If only we could be more like Japan
It seems President Obama touted Safety records of Japan’s Nuclear Industry.

In an article by Kate Sheppard, Mother Jones a few things were pointed out.
“Speaking at a town hall meeting in October 2009, Obama specifically cited Japan as a model for America’s nuclear renaissance. “There’s no reason why, technologically, we can’t employ nuclear energy in a safe and effective way,” Obama said. “Japan does it and France does it, and it doesn’t have greenhouse gas emissions, so it would be stupid for us not to do that in a much more effective way.”
‘Obama is far from alone in touting Japan’s nuclear industry in order to sell nuclear power in the US. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), who has called for 100 new nuclear plants to be built in the nation over the next two decades, praised Japan’s use of nuclear power during a 2009 congressional hearing. Nuclear proponent Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) has also promoted Japan as nuclear energy pioneer. In a letter to fellow lawmakers in May 2009, she wrote: “…Asian countries like Japan, have developed nuclear plants as a safe and cost effective source of power over the last three decades.”
The situation in Japan, where the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station is at risk of a meltdown and three other plants are also experiencing problems, will certainly make it harder for nuclear energy advocates, including the president and his aides, to assert that this is a safe option. Chu and Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chair Greg Jaczko are slated to appear before the House energy and commerce committee on Wednesday to discuss the president’s budget plan, and the expansion of the nuclear loan guarantee program is certain to be a focal point. Presumably, they won’t be touting Japan’s nuclear program.
Seems to me Obama also touted Deep drilling before you no, that pesky oil disaster in the Gulf last summer. Whatever I sure don’t want him picking the horse’s for me.

I wish we were more like Japan:
1) Not invading/occupying other countries on whimsical bases such as nation-building.
2) Not a citizenry that is armed to the teeth with assault weapons.

It does seem that a lot of things are turning around to bite Obama in the ass. I guess he’s just at the wrong place at the wrong time? or maybe bad advice to begin with?

I was chastised for banging the pres but I hope you all agree that you guys need an editor. The writing over here by Scared Stiff and Gwendolyn is atrocious. I’ve seen better work from my husband’s HS students and they are in need of a lot of help.

Gwendolyn and Scaredstiff have more passion and knowledge in politics than you have displayed in your remarks. It seems to me they’re smarter than you, and they’re certainly better people than someone who poses as a Tea Partier to make mischief on a website.

The last resort of a small mind is to attack whomever threatens them. Today is the kind of day I like to keep busy… I am in annual mourning today. And it was mom who told me that it didn’t matter what you did have or you did not have, there was always going to be someone jealous of what you do, have, in your heart. In your head, in your life. Really Rachel… is there nothing more substantive for you to latch onto? Perhaps you could use a writing program to assist you with some facts? How about some back up? We are trying to bring a conversation to the net. We are aligned or alike minds, even while we do not agree always.
